Calorie counting Does it make sense, even today to count calories ? Wouldn't we be a simple mathematical formula, a calorimetric bomb? These are the doubts that many people today bring to calorie counting . On the other hand, science shows that the calculation of calories is not an applicable practice for the general population, in the short, medium, and long term. Yet we assure you that it is extremely useful to calculate calories (and macronutrients), not because the formulas are exact, not because we can have a realistic estimate of how many calories we introduce and how many we consume. But because estimating is always better than not estimating. Knowing what we do and what effects it has (we lose weight, we get fat, or stay the same) allows us to adjust our focus and add or remove calories (from macronutrients).
